Expert Imprinted Concrete That Lasts

Imprinted concrete driveways, sometimes called pattern imprinted concrete or street print, are formed from a single continuous pour of coloured concrete that is stamped with textured mats while it is still wet, so the finished surface takes on the look of stone setts, brick, cobbles or riven flags in one seamless piece.

Because it is one solid slab rather than dozens of separate blocks, there are no joints for weeds, ants or moss to work into, and nothing to lift or wander out of line. The colour is carried through a hard surface layer and sealed on top, giving a durable, decorative driveway with an exceptional choice of patterns and shades. The same street print technique is equally at home on commercial forecourts and pedestrian areas as it is on a private driveway. What sets a lasting drive apart from one that cracks early is the craft in the laying and the strength of the base beneath it.

The Patterns, Colours & Finishes We Master

Imprinted concrete is, above all, a craft of finish. The pattern and colour are set on the day the concrete is laid, so the surface is matched to your home, your boundary walls or the character of the street:

Ashlar slate and riven stone

Clean, large-format flag looks that suit modern and traditional homes alike, and the most popular choice for driveways.

Cobblestone and setts

The rounded or squared cobble patterns that echo older streets and courtyards, at home in stone-town settings.

Running bond and basketweave brick

A brick-effect finish that ties a drive to a brick-built house without laying thousands of individual pavers.

Colours, borders and fans

A wide range of base and release colours, with contrasting borders and fan detailing to frame the drive or highlight an entrance.

Commercial street print

The same imprinting laid on forecourts, car park approaches and pedestrian areas where a decorative, durable surface is called for.

I can't recommend Paddway Surfacing Solutions enough. Jamie was so easy to deal with, from the first consultation and listened to what we wanted. We had a tarmac driveway laid with a grey block paving border. The price was so reasonable and the job was well executed. Really pleased with the work.

Why an Imprinted Concrete Driveway Pays Off

One seamless, weed-free surfaceWith no joints, there is nothing for weeds, moss or ants to grow through, and far less to weed, re-sand or lift over the years.

The look of stone in a single surfaceYou get the appearance of setts, brick or riven slabs across the whole drive, laid in one continuous pour.

Hard-wearing and easy to keepA sealed imprinted surface shrugs off tyres and weather, washes down cleanly, and holds its colour with the occasional re-seal.

Kerb appeal that adds valueA patterned, colour-matched driveway lifts the front of a house and is one of the first things buyers and visitors notice.

How an Imprinted Concrete Job Works

01

Free site survey and quote

Jamie visits, measures up, checks the levels and drainage, helps you choose a pattern and colour, and gives you a clear written quote.

02

Excavation and sub-base

We dig out to the correct depth and lay a compacted stone sub-base. On a poured surface, a solid, even base is what keeps it from cracking later.

03

Pour and reinforce

Coloured concrete is poured, levelled to the correct falls for drainage, and reinforced with fibres or mesh for strength.

04

Imprint and colour

While the concrete is still wet, the surface colour is applied and the pattern mats are pressed in by hand to create the stone, brick or cobble finish. This is the stage that decides the character of the drive.

05

Cure, cut and seal

Expansion joints are cut to control movement, the surface is left to cure, then cleaned and sealed. Every driveway is backed by our 3-year workmanship guarantee.

Why choose us

Why Choose Paddway for Imprinted Concrete

An imprinted concrete driveway lives and dies on two things: the base beneath it and the expansion joints cut into it. Laid on a properly engineered, compacted sub-base with joints set in the right places, it holds true for 20 years or more. That groundwork is precisely where our expertise begins.

Paddway lays roads, car parks and drainage under a street works ticket, so the excavation, sub-base and falls beneath your drive are prepared to the standard a road demands, a depth of capability few driveway contractors in the county can offer. We carry £1 million public liability insurance, a blue CSCS card and a street works ticket, so every job is carried out safely and to the correct standards, backed by a 3-year workmanship guarantee.

About the Owner, Jamie Robinson

Imprinted concrete at Paddway is laid by Jamie Robinson, the owner. Jamie started in surfacing at 20 and has 17 years in the trade, laying driveways, car parks and roads across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire. He quotes and works the jobs himself, so the person who prices your drive is the specialist who lays it.

“An imprinted drive looks the part on the day it is laid, whoever puts it down. Whether it still looks the part in fifteen years comes down to the base underneath and where the joints are cut. That is the part experience earns you, and it is the part I take the most care over.”Jamie Robinson, owner

Imprinted Concrete Across the Region

We lay imprinted concrete driveways from our Retford base across Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire, including Worksop, Newark, Doncaster, Lincoln, Grantham, Sleaford and Stamford.

How Our Imprinted Concrete Quotes Work

Every driveway is priced after a proper look, because no two are the same. What shapes an imprinted concrete quote is the size of the area, the pattern and colours you choose, how much excavation and muck-away the ground needs, whether drainage is required, and the amount of border and detail work.

What you can always count on: a free site survey, help choosing the pattern and colour, a clear written quote with no obligation, and an honest, expert assessment of the right build-up for your ground, so you know exactly what is included before any work starts.

Frequently asked questions

What is an imprinted concrete (street print) driveway?+
It is a driveway formed from one continuous pour of coloured concrete that is stamped with textured mats while wet, so it takes on the look of stone, brick or cobbles in a single seamless surface. Street print is another name for the same technique, also laid on forecourts and pedestrian areas.
How much does an imprinted concrete driveway cost?+
There is no single price, because it depends on the size of the area, the pattern and colours, the amount of excavation and drainage, and the border detail. Rather than guess a figure down the phone, Jamie gives you a free site survey and a clear written quote for your driveway.
How long does imprinted concrete last compared with block paving?+
Laid on a proper sub-base with correctly cut expansion joints, imprinted concrete holds true for 20 years or more, comparable to a well-laid block paving driveway. The difference is upkeep: imprinted concrete has no joints to re-sand or weed but benefits from an occasional re-seal, while block paving lets you lift and replace individual blocks.
Does imprinted concrete crack over time?+
Any concrete surface can crack if the base is poor or joints are missed, which is exactly why the groundwork matters. Laid on a compacted sub-base with expansion joints cut in the right places, imprinted concrete stays sound for many years. Fine surface hairlines can appear with weather and are managed with re-sealing.
Can imprinted concrete be re-sealed and refreshed?+
Yes. The sealer on top is what protects the colour and finish, and re-sealing every few years brings the colour back up and keeps the surface easy to clean. Jamie will tell you what your driveway needs and can carry out the re-seal for you.
